REVISTA NIT : A marca bracarense de candeeiros artesanais que transforma histórias em luz

NIT MAGAZINE: The Brasilia-based brand of handmade lamps that transforms stories into light

Domus Concept Light Studio was born from a story of overcoming adversity. Now, it aims to illuminate other lives with handmade pieces.

Luciana Escrivães, 40, is from Esposende and worked for years in Integrated Systems Management. She never imagined she'd one day be designing handmade lamps. But it was precisely outside her comfort zone that she found a new way to live and shine.

In May 2024, she launched Domus Concept Light Studio , a brand that combines craftsmanship, decoration, and emotional well-being. Luciana creates handmade, unique, and personalized lampshades and ceiling lights. Each model is designed not only to illuminate a room, but also to represent a story, be it one of overcoming obstacles, celebration, or simply a desire to breathe life into a space.

“The brand was born from my personal story,” says Luciana.

Luciana had no formal training in design or any experience in the interior design industry. But her interest in handicrafts was always there. The experience changed her life. Between fabrics, shapes, and structures, she discovered a new way to connect with herself. She realized she could create meaningful pieces and give them a unique identity, carefully thought out in detail. Shortly thereafter, with her husband's encouragement, she began the project that would eventually become Domus Concept - Light Studio.

What sets Domus Concept apart from other brands is customization. Here, each piece is made to order, with carefully selected fabrics and a vibrant aesthetic. "We don't use conventional prints. We look for bright colors, different textures, and materials that evoke emotions. Each piece is designed with the client in mind, depending on what they want to convey," he explains.

The process is 100% handmade and done in-house, with the support of her husband, who helps with assembly and finishing. The lamp bases are produced by a Portuguese partner company, ensuring quality, durability, and a local and sustainable production chain.

More than just decorative objects, Domus Concept lampshades are treated as small light sculptures. "Some are softer, with neutral and diffuse tones, ideal for creating tranquil environments. Others are more striking, with bold prints and shadow plays, perfect for those who want to make light a focal point in the room," describes Luciana.

The brand is also preparing to launch the "Luz & Essência" collection , featuring handcrafted candles made with natural wax and exclusive fragrances. The idea is to strengthen the concept of emotional and sensory well-being within the home. "We want to create environments where people feel good, spaces where identity, memory, and comfort are present," he emphasizes.

Each piece is made to order, which avoids waste and allows absolute control over the materials used. The fabrics are chosen for their durability, color vibrancy, and feel. The panels used are flame-retardant and certified, ensuring safety and quality.

Prices vary depending on the model and fabric chosen. Custom lampshades cost between R$35 and R$95, ceiling lights between R$90 and R$150, and poufs (which are also part of the brand's offering) range from R$100 to R$150.

Until the official website launches soon, orders can be placed directly through the brand's social media channels or by email (light.studio.handmade@gmail.com). There, you can also see some of the pieces already created, highlighting the colorful fabrics and original shapes.

The name wasn't chosen at random. Domus means "home" in Latin—a refuge, a safe, intimate, and personal space. The logo, meanwhile, is a geometric tunnel with a light at the end. "It's a reminder that, even in the darkest moments, there's always a way out. A bright destination awaits us," explains the founder.

For her, the most rewarding part is connecting with customers and sharing their stories.

Domus Concept wants to be more than a lighting brand. It wants to be a project of empathy, beauty, and truth. "Our message is simple: there's beauty in being who you are. Scars are part of our history, but they don't define us. What defines us is how we choose to illuminate them," he argues.
